Manchester’s National Squash Centre will be
transformed during the nine-day World Championships event with a
custom-built main action area positioned in the centre of
Sportcity’s athletics hall with a 360° seating environment and a
capacity of 1,200. Up to seven courts in total will be
in operation at any one time.
The National Squash Centre is located in the
same building as the English Institute of Sport and once the
official venue for England Squash during the Commonwealth Games,
the National Squash Centre is now home to England Squash.
Regular facilities at the centre include six
fixed courts and one glass walled show-court. All courts are
state-of-the-art, with the ability to transform into either single
or double courts at the push of a button. The show-court can
be moved and positioned in the athletics hall with room for more
than 1,000 spectators. Major tournaments held at the centre
annually include The British Open and The National
Championships.
