Nicol David is not only the most successful Malaysian female squash player of all time, she is also one of her country’s leading sports stars having been invited to carry the Olympic torch in the build up to the Athens Olympics in 2004 and been appointed a UN goodwill ambassador.

David became the first woman ever to win the World Junior crown twice, and has enjoyed remarkable success since joining the seniors. Having reached the World Championship semi-final in 2005 David captured the sport's ultimate prize the following year and successfully defended her title in 2006.

Although 2007 saw David enjoy her best run of results numerically, winning an incredible 8 tournaments, the Malaysian star suffered a shcok defeat in the World Championships. However she soon put he disappointment behind her, capturing her next two tournaments to ensure she went into 2008 as the World Nuber One.
