Having captured the World title and held the World Number one position, Thierry Lincou is the most successful Frenchman ever to have played the game of squash.

In 2003 Lincou had the distinction of reaching nine successive PSA event semi-finals, before going on to win the World title the following year in Qatar. 2006 saw the Frenchman back to his best capturing four PSA titles during the course of the year and reaching the final of the British Open for the first time, when he ended Palmer's two-year reign as Champion in the semi-finals.

Lincou again reached the final of the Dunlop British Open in 2007, losing to fellow countryman Gregory Gaultier. While the latter half of 2007 saw Lincou endure a barren run, the Frenchman has hit back in 2008 winning his first tournament, the EBS Dayton Open.
