Since emerging as one of the most talented juniors of his generation Gaultier initially had to endure living in the shadow of his fellow countryman, the former World Champion, Thierry Lincou.

However Gaultier’s rich potential has converted itself into results and the Frenchman enjoyed a remarkable 2006, winning two non-PSA sanctioned events before going on to reach six PSA Tour finals, winning two of them. However, perhaps his greatest scalp was when beating World Number One Amr Shabana at the World Championships.

This was followed up with his first ever victory against Thierry Lincou in straight sets in the quarter-finals of the US Open, which he went on to win. In 2007 Gautlier enjoyed more success over his compatriot, beating Lincou in the final of the Dunlop British Open, before reaching the final of the World Championship later in the year.
